This week our Copa Marymount 2019 started which, aside from promoting teamwork and healthy competition, allows our students to develop their talent and passion for sports. Ricardo Torrents, Class of 2012, lives this passion since he was in 10th grade and knew that he wanted to become a Sports Journalist.
During the professional practiced organized by the school through the Explore Horizons program, he had the opportunity to participate in the sports program "Los Dueños del Balón" from RCN Radio. He holds a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, with experience in the digital field, which started with the creation of an Instagram profile called Última Hora Fútbol (Last-Minute Soccer), reaching 20K followers. He also had the opportunity to work in the web portal Habla Deportes, Win Sports and in the Centroamerican and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla in 2018. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters Degree in Sports Journalism at Univesidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain and works as a Journalist at Mundo Deportivo, the third sports newspaper with widest circulation and most readers in Spain. Also, he is correspondent from Habla Deportes Radio in Barcelona, a program from Barranquilla Caracol Radio, where he speaks Monday - Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
I have learned many things which will surely allow me to do a better job in the future in any field: written, television, radio or digital press." Ricardo is a Marymount pride and an example of leadership in the Sports and Journalism fields.
